World Hepatitis Day is being celebrated on 28 July, in countries around the world. Hepatitis is a deadly disease, of which many people are aware. Hundreds and thousands of people die every year due to hepatitis. This day is celebrated to increase awareness about this disease among people living all over the world. On World Hepatitis Day, people are made aware of slogans, posters, speeches, speeches, messages. In this era of social media, work is being done to make more and more people aware of the deadly disease with its help. Hepatitis refers to inflammation of the liver. It is mostly caused by a viral infection, but there are other more possible causes of hepatitis. Millions of people all over the world fall prey to hepatitis every year and that is why World Hepatitis Day is celebrated every year to spread awareness about this dangerous disease.
Hepatitis virus and infection
There are 5 strains of this virus which are known as Hepatitis A, B, C, D, E. Of these, A and E are spread through infected food and water. Whereas Hepatitis B spreads through sexual
contact. Apart from this, it is also spread by transfusion of infected blood. Hepatitis C is also transmitted through infected blood transfusion. Talk about Hepatitis D, then when a person is infected with Hepatitis B, he can also get D infection. Hepatitis B causes the highest number of deaths in the world. The main reason for the spread of hepatitis in India is the transmission of the virus from mother to child. Apart from this, unprotected blood transfusion, unprotected sex, use of unsafe needles are also the main reasons for the spread of the disease. Hepatitis B virus is transmitted from infected person to person through blood, semen, and other body fluids. Toxic hepatitis can be caused by certain toxins, chemicals, drugs, or dietary supplements. Autoimmune hepatitis is a chronic type, in which our body’s immune system attacks our liver. The cause is not known, but genetics and your environment may play a part.
How is viral hepatitis spread? Hepatitis A and hepatitis E are usually spread through contact with food or water contaminated with the feces of an infected person. Hepatitis B, hepatitis C and hepatitis D are spread through contact with the blood of people who has the disease. Hepatitis B and D can also be spread through contact with other body fluids. This can happen in several ways, such as sharing a drug needle or having unprotected sex.
World Hepatitis Day 2021: Theme
The theme of World Hepatitis Day this year is ‘Hepatitis Can’t-Wait. Last year its theme was ‘Hepatitis free future’. However, it will take a long time for the world to become hepatitis-free, so there is a great need to spread awareness about it. According to statistics, every 30 seconds a person dies due to this serious disease. Anyway, this is an epidemic era, so it is not right to delay in bringing awareness about this viral hepatitis.
How Is Hepatitis Diagnosed?
The doctor will ask about your symptoms and do a physical exam. You have to undergo blood tests such as liver function tests, prothrombin time, and tests for viral hepatitis. Imaging tests such as ultrasound, and in selected cases, a CT scan or MRI may be needed. Occasionally, a liver biopsy may be needed to get a clear diagnosis and check for liver damage.
Ways to prevent hepatitis
A patient infected with hepatitis should get regular check-ups from the doctor. This infection spreads more during the monsoon, so avoid the consumption of oily, spicy, non-vegetarian, and heavy foods during this season. Fast food cakes, pastries, chocolates, alcohol, etc. should be avoided. Apart from this, green vegetables, citrus fruits containing vitamin C,
papaya, coconut water, dried dates, raisins, almonds, and cardamom should be consumed well. Keep in mind that a portion of unhealthy food, diet can cause liver damage. If you eat too many high-calorie greasy, fatty, or sugary foods, you will gain weight and start building up fat in your liver. The fat in your liver can decrease the effectiveness of drugs that target the hepatitis virus.

Since your liver is battling with hepatitis virus, take special provisions to avoid any disease that enlarges the chances of liver damage. Wash all meat, fruits, and vegetables to remove any potentially harmful residue, and wash your hands thoroughly, before and after touching food to prevent cross-contamination.
