Use and Care Instructions for Your Invisalign Aligners
Using and wearing your Invisalign aligner
Some tips are given here for ensuring proper usage of the aligner and to protect the aligner from damage: Remember to1. Put into the aligner as per the instruction of the dentist i.e., for long 22 hours every day. 2. Use water and soap to wash the hands properly prior to use the aligner. 3. Deal with an aligner at a particular time. 4. When you remove it from packet rinse it before popping into your mouth.
Insertion of Aligner
1. Ensure that you get the right aligner which fits snugly either your top front teeth or back front teeth as per the requirement. 2. Often patients get confused regarding the aligner placement on the jaw; hence the set is engraved with ‘L’ or ‘U’ along stage number for your help. 3. Insertion of the aligner can be done one by one either you start with the upper one or lower one. But push it gently over the front teeth by exerting equal pressure using fingertips to top of right and left molars until it sits into the place perfectly. 4. Never bite to place the aligner into its place as it can damage the aligner. NOTE: If there is any significant discomfort or sharp pain then discontinue its use and get in touch with the dentist as early as possible to avoid unnecessary hindrance. Removal of Aligner
1. By using your fingertip at the back molar pull out the aligner gently. 2. This step has to be followed for either side of the mouth for complete aligner removal. Once it is out from the molar you can pry gently as you forward for full disengagement of the aligner. NOTE: Aligner should be rinsed in water immediately by shaking off the excess water then store it in the provided protective case. Unnecessary removal should be avoided for the prevention of aligner damage.
Even if the multiple attachments are not in use you should take proper care to remove the aligner. Never exert extra force for twisting or bending the aligner to remove it off. Never use sharp items for the removal of aligner. Dentist consultation is essential in case aligner becomes tough to remove. Regular maintenance and care for your Invisalign
1. Aligner should be cleaned before insertion. Apply little toothpaste amount and use the soft-bristled toothbrush and water to clean it. While they are over your teeth cleaning the external surface will be easy but to clean inside you have to remove it. NOTE: ensure to rinse the aligner extensively using water after cleaning. Even you are recommended to use the cleaning product to clean the aligner properly once in 7 days or as your requirement. 2. Avoid using denture cleaner for cleaning the aligner. Never soak it in mouthwash as well. These products damage the aligner surface making more visible and dull. Practice good oral care hygiene and regime
Pop the aligner out during drinking and eating (no necessity to put it off for drinking cold water). Floss and brush the teeth after having each meal before re-inserting the aligner. Rinsing the mouth using water will be also fine if cleaning with toothbrush is not possible at that moment. Clean the aligner by holding it under running warm water. Although it is not the most preferable cleaning
way yet it will be effective for some time. However, ensure to clean it properly as early as you can. Daily professional dental cleaning and check-ups are highly advised to retain the health of your gums and teeth. Contact with a dentist for more queries on dental hygiene practices. How to store the Invisalign aligner
There will be two cases in the starter kit in the colour of red and blue. You are strictly advised to keep the aligner in them when you are not using them. It will prevent the Invisalign from potential damage and loss. Also label the case with ‘current stage’. By this way you can easily identify which one you are using at present. When the time arrives to switch to next set then store the last used one in the orange (red) case. The latest one which is in use at present must be stored in the blue case. Sometimes due to break or lose of the aligner, you might have to use the previous one or step back towards the last stage unless you receive the replacement. NOTE: Every set of old aligner should be stored in plastic bag or as your dentist’s instructions. Make sure that they are out of the reach of pets and kids.
