I have looked at this UEV 490 and other Australian RVs online and have been highly impressed with the many features and the durability of them. It is amazing that this camper has so many kitchen items to be used in or outside the cammper. I’ve never seen any of these Australian campers in the eastern US but would like to. ∞ Alex March 8, 2012, 6:54 pm
Thanks Carl! ∞

This is awesome! I have been looking for something like this for a little while now. I came across this in a search, do you know off the top of your head if anything like this is available in the US? Thanks in advance. ∞ MB June 30, 2013, 10:09 pm
Closest I’ve seen is Adventure Trailers in the US, and they’re not really the same sort of thing. I hope someone does something like this here! ∞

Thank you so much for this very informative post. I really find it very useful because there are so many off road campers nowadays and it seems very hard for people like me to find the best one. Sharing us this information can greatly help me as well as other people out there. Thanks ∞

Hey, this is the first time I’ve posted a comment on here. I normally love getting ideas for my own tiny house plans from you but I think you went off the deep end here. $58,000 for a trailer?!? Just my opinion but that is insane! How about an over-pricedpiece-of-plastic Mercedes to pull it with. Anyway, I love your blog and look forward to each newsletter. Thnx! ∞ rpdii_cdn July 23, 2014, 3:31 pm
I understand your resistance, Troy, and I largely share it. But I DO think it’s always useful to see new strategies for making the most of a small space, regardless of the price of that space. I don’t think for a moment that Alex is recommending we throw away our ideas for a frugal and sustainable tiny home in favour of us all getting this Australian testosterone-laced caravan. ∞ Paul July 23, 2014, 10:54 pm
Just remember, Australia has some of the most inhospitable environments around on the planet. Most of the country is desert. Like, no water! This is a combo adventure/survival vehicle. It’s built like the proverbial brick sh*t house. For those who haven’t looked yet, below are the specs for this vehicle, which btw is NOT their top of the line offering, and given what you get I don’t think the price is over the top. After all, what price do you put on your life and health?: UEV-490 Suspension Fully patented independent trailing arm suspension with coil springs and Tough Dog shock absorbers Suspension travel/ride can be configured for maximum performance for on & offroad conditions Rear legs are an integral part in caravan design (no loose jacks or handles) 12 inch off-road electric drum brakes plus emergency spare hub/stub axle bolted to rear of Caravan Various wheel offsets, stud patterns and tyre sizes available to suit tow vehicle Body Construction Body strength ensured by skeletal construction with cladding which minimizes weight All body parts are CNC manufactured ensuring easy interchangeability of parts All openings are furnished with automotive industry door seals External fan & Uni filter to pressurise interior of Caravan to help prevent dust intake All parts are electro galvanized and epoxy coated and Chassis beams are hot dipped galvanized No wood, fiberglass or other degradable materials are used in our construction which eliminates wood rot, paint cracking and fatigue caused by off-road conditions TARE/real life tow weight of 1350kg (incl. 285/75 R16 tyres, full awnings & poles, canvas, full kitchen with cutlery & crockery, dual batteries) *Many manufactures TARE weights do not include equipment such as this Layout and Unique Features 2x larger than standard double beds, 1x double bed and 1x single or 3x single bed options Hassle-free fold out tent in front of Caravan larger than normal double bed 140lt poly ethylene water tanks with low centre of gravity but located out of harm’s way in off-road conditions (more water storage available depending configuration) All furniture and cupboards manufactured from aluminum with canvas fabric doors Designated space for all equipment accessories and utensils provided Large nosecone with room for pressurised pump, diesel hot water system and other camping equipment Interior was designed for maximum space for ample headroom and large beds Designated mountings for 2 x jerry cans, 2 x gas bottles, spare wheel & hub, axe, spade etc Rear mounted carrier for items like fire wood, tent, high lift jack etc Designated fixed pouches for all tents, awnings, ropes and poles Tent design streamlined with a minimum amount of poles and ropes Canvas manufactured from heavy duty lightweight Australian canvas Modular design provides for a large number of configurations Ample provision made for ventilation and visibility from inside A variety of different stone guard protection nets are available Intelligent powerpack and C-tek charging system Kitchen 74L or 90L stainless steel fridge/freezer combo with individual controls- easily accessible Hot and cold water available thanks to diesel hot water system Massive awning that covers the whole kitchen area and entry ways on both sides Huge kitchen/groceries cupboard and work surface on outside plus reachable from inside as well Modular slide out units for kitchen, bathroom, fridge, stove and storage shelves Bathroom Located in opposite side to kitchen for privacy Designated shower and tent with sides Hot and cold water available at wash basin and shower Outside living All facilities in the caravan, kitchen, bathroom, fridge, cooking utensils, stove, bar and storage compartments are accessed from outside of the caravan for real outdoor living. Yes, these are pricey, but I’d pay an awful lot for the franchise rights to sell these babies in the US! It won’t be long before we start to see these state side. ∞
Jason August 16, 2014, 2:53 pm
Already few in california! Paid less than 50k us with import fees. Also there is another company in u.s that sells similar trailers with bullet proof upgrades. 60K isnt bad since a new airstream trailer can cost that and not even able to go off road like the AU trailers. ∞

Already few in california! Paid less than 50k us with import fees. Also there is another company in u.s that sells similar trailers with bullet proof upgrades. My friend has a tumble home and its already falling apart and he only moves it four times a year and paid 60k plus for it. 60K isnt bad since a new airstream trailer can cost that and not even able to go off road like the AU trailers. Alot of tiny homes wont last as long as these trailers. ∞

That’s the Australian price including gst, take 10% off that ∞ Glynn August 11, 2015, 8:44 am
I’m looking at buying a 2014 model UEV490 in Australia priced at AUD$60k. They are 4.9mtrs tow length. I went to the Conqueror Australia workshop/showroom recently and the 2015 model is AUD$79k including air conditioning and microwave. I know it’s expensive but compared to its competitors not so. A Complete campsite hybrid 5.4mtrs tow length is AUD$82k. ∞

For those interested in such things, I am developing a design for a line of trailers with similar capabilities for various size vehicles. They can be customized or loaded up with available options that rival the Conqueror line. I have studied the South African and Australian trailers and all the features they offer to develop my brand. It is still in the design phase, but I will be putting it out there soon. Not a tiny house, but more of an adventure seekers home away from home. ∞

Looks like a well designed and built range of off road campers to suit off road Aussie conditions .. There’s lots of camper trailer and caravan manufacturers in Aus and there are lots of different types of terrain .. Australia is roughly the same size as the USA and we’ve got massive amounts of space that doesn’t need off road equipment to get to and lots of places that do .. We’ve got something for everyone here .. ∞
CathyAnn April 28, 2015, 6:54 pm
I’m very impressed at how rugged it is. Great for those who like to camp waaayyyyy off of the beaten path. I remember as a teenager going camping with my family in the Sierras. The road we had to drive to get to our destination was what I would call “graded boulders.” This trailer would be perfect to get to places like that. ∞
Michael Rooney July 16, 2015, 6:28 pm
Hi love it can you get them in UK if not how much to import me one ∞

I am pleased to say we own an conqueror, and we have done many tough trips in Botswana, Namibia and South Africa and it never let us down. Very well planned caravan. ∞
