The Alarming Rise of Jewish Persecution In America Farrukh Saif April 23, 2024
In the aftermath of the devastating Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which left 1,200 people dead and hundreds taken hostage, the United States witnessed a dramatic surge in antisemitic incidents targeting the Jewish community.
Reports from Anti-Defamation League: The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) tracked a staggering 8,873 incidents of antisemitic assault, harassment, and vandalism across the country in 2023 – a 140% increase from the previous year. This marks the highest number of
antisemitic incidents ever recorded by the ADL since it began monitoring such data in 1979. A major driver of this surge in antisemitism was the backlash following the Hamas attack on Israel. In the three months after October 7, 2023, the ADL documented 3,283 antisemitic incidents – a 360% jump from the same period a year earlier. For the first time, incidents referencing Israel or Zionism constituted the majority of cases recorded, accounting for 59% of incidents in October and 60% in November 2023.
What’s Happening in Columbia University: The search results indicate that Jewish students and faculty at Columbia University have faced a particularly hostile environment. A Jewish professor, Shai Davidai, has faced retaliation and an internal investigation from the university administration after speaking out against the rampant antisemitism on campus. Jewish students have reported being harassed, assaulted, and forced to lock themselves in their dorm rooms out of fear. Despite these issues, the university has failed to address the concerns of the Jewish community adequately. Even Yesterday, Campus security and police are stopping assistant professor Shai Davidai from entering the campus occupied by left-wing and Islamic groups. Instead, the university removed Hamas supporters (the domestic terrorists) from campus; they have removed him. Watch the Video The more alarming aspect is that these pro-Hamas protestors are chanting openly for the killing of Jews, and praising Hamas for the October 7th attack. What’s even more horrific is that they are chanting and displaying placards advocating rape as a form of resistance. This protest appears to be
well-organized and carefully planned. If the state authorities in the USA fail to address this now, it could become uncontrollable in the coming days.
Councilwoman Inna Vernikov has confirmed that the situation at Columbia has deteriorated to the point where almost all Jewish students have now been forced off campus. Violent activists, some of whom are not even students, have occupied and dominated the campus grounds, creating a hostile and unsafe environment for Jewish People. Watch the Video: The current surge of persecution against Jewish students has extended to other states in the USA. Anti-Israel student protesters have now taken over the California State Polytechnic University, fortifying the entrance with couches, chairs, and desks. What originated in Columbia is rapidly spreading throughout the nation. Video from California: In summary, the United States has witnessed a staggering surge in antisemitic incidents in the aftermath of the 2023 Hamas attack on Israel, with the Jewish community facing unprecedented levels of persecution. The crisis has been particularly acute at Columbia University, where Jewish students and faculty have endured a sustained campaign of harassment, assault, and institutional indifference. Now it is spreading to other states as well.
Amidst the rising tide of antisemitism, let us stand in solidarity with the Jewish community, recognizing their invaluable contributions to the world and their right to safety and dignity. Let’s join in prayer and take decisive action to safeguard the persecuted Jewish people from further harm.
