4 Debunked Myths About Korean Online Class
Many people dream of learning a new language, and one of the most popular languages to learn now is Korean. A practical and convenient way to start learning is to enrol in a Korean online class, which I did. However, some people turn their noses up at learning a language online. Contrary to popular belief, online learning is just as effective as face-to-face classes. This article debunks the top four myths you hear about learning Korean online.
1. Online Korean Lessons are Low-Quality The most popular myth about taking Korean lessons online is that online classes are low in quality compared to face-to-face lessons inside a classroom. While it's understandable for people to think that because they lack trust in a new form of learning, people must keep an open mind about it. My online lessons provided quizzes, one-to-one sessions with my tutor, a chance to review past topics, and more. These are things that face-to-face classes can also offer students.
2. Online Korean Lessons aren't as Interactive Many people think Korean online lessons aren't as interactive because you won't see your classmates and Korean tutor in Singapore face-to-face, but that's not true. Online classes often gave me more opportunities to interact and practise with classmates. My tutor used a video call platform that let us separate into smaller groups within the same call, allowing us to practise with each other.
3. Korean Lessons are Only for K-Pop and K-Drama Fans Many people assume that people who are learning Korean only want to learn because they want to understand their favourite K-Pop songs or K-Drama shows. However, that's far from the case. While K-Pop and K-Drama fans are encouraged to learn Korean online if they want to, you can also learn the language for various other reasons. I’m not a fan of K-Pop or K-Dramas, but I still took lessons because I want to live in Korea someday. The possibilities are endless, so don't limit your reasons why you want to study this beautiful language.
4. Learners Should Take a Trip to Korea One of the best ways to learn to speak a language is through constant practice and exposure. Many people love to go to Korea after taking a Korean online class because they want to practise their skills, especially since they no longer have to speak to people through a computer. However, you don't have to go to Korea if you don't want to since there are plenty of opportunities to practise your skills right at home. I don’t have the funds to go to Korea yet, but that doesn’t diminish the effort I made to learn the language.
