To whom it may concern: Please note that if you have not paid your Grand Lodge Assessment (including fines) you will not be seated at the Annual Communication. SECTION 161 - When Payable. Each lodge shall pay to the Grand Secretary its indebtedness to the Grand Lodge as soon as practicable each year after June 30, but the same, along with the Annual Return, shall reach the office of the Grand Secretary not later than the first day of September, provided however, if said payment be not made, and the return not received in the Grand Lodge Office by September 1st, the Grand Secretary is directed to assess a fine against the lodge of one dollar for each day for each delinquency and collect the same from the lodge, and if said payment is not received by the Grand Secretary on or before December 1st, after the same shall have become due, the Grand Master is authorized in his discretion to arrest its charter for failure to comply with the law or pay the fines.

Newport High School recently held its annual Senior Awards Night to honor the 2015 graduating class. The Class of 2015 was very well represented. There were dozens of scholarships and other academic, athletic, co-op, drama, military, and music awards presented to this very impressive body of young adults. Adam Gross, Master, and John Hensley, Secretary of Newport Lodge were among the community presenters to award the $500.00 Newport Lodge No. 358 scholarship to Ms. Cheyenne Gross, and she also received the United States Department of Education College and Career-Ready Award, which is quite an achievement. This is an incredible achievement for a bright young lady with a brilliant future ahead of her. She was also awarded other scholarships. Ms. Gross will be attending Northern Kentucky University in the fall and is planning to declare physical therapy as her major. Congratulations Cheyenne!

On June 22, 2015, Aurora Lodge No. 633 traveled to Highland Park Lodge No. 865 to pick up the District #13 Traveling Gavel. While visiting at Highland Park Lodge, Aurora Lodge presented the Grand Master’s Knife to Brother Harold Lee, Past Master of Aurora Lodge No. 633.
Newport Lodge 358 – Waukengan Visitor
On June 10, 2015, Newport Lodge No. 358 had a good crowd turn out to hear and meet Worshipful Brother Robert Johnson of Waukegan Lodge No. 78, Waukegan, Illinois. A wonderful pork chop and sauerkraut dinner was served and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. He discussed the Masons involved in the Revolution as well as the historical taverns where a lot of those discussions were held and plans made. Brother Johnson had a great time at Newport Lodge and even gave the Lodge a “shout-out” on “Episode 198 – Know Thyself of the Whence Came You podcast.” It was an honor and a pleasure to have him speak at Newport Lodge.

Christopher Sanders, a junior at Conner High School in Hebron, Kentucky was the first place winner of the 2015 Bernard A. “Barney” Hogan Essay Contest sponsored by the members of Elvin E. Helms Lodge No. 926 in Petersburg, Kentucky. Mr. Sander’s winning essay on “Freemasonry and the Culture of America” can be read on the Lodge website www.elvinehelms926.org. Burnside Masonic Lodge 634 – Something Fishy Going On Another great crowd turned out for the Burnside Masonic Lodge No. 634 Annual Fish Fry held the first Friday in June at Tucker Family Shelter House on Hwy. 90.
