A Royal Palace on the Move The moment you step off the red carpet at the station and onto the train, the world changes. The noise of the city fades away, replaced by the soft chime of a welcome drink and the sight of a personal valet waiting to show you to your cabin. Each carriage is designed to look like a private chamber from a royal palace, but it functions with the precision of a modern luxury suite. •
The Vibe: Rich, soft carpets, hand-painted floral walls, and silk upholstery.
•
The Tech: CCTV cameras, Wi-Fi, and electronic safes.
•
The Comfort: En-suite bathrooms with high-end toiletries and constant hot water.
Whether you are staying in a Deluxe Cabin or the exclusive Presidential Suite, you get a sense of oldworld charm mixed with modern luxury. It feels like a time machine, but one that comes with air conditioning and a pillow menu! Plus, you have a private butler available 24/7 to make sure your tea is served exactly the way you like it.
Why the Maharajas’ express is the Gold standard for indian holidays
Dining: A Feast for the Senses One of the absolute highlights of this Indian vacation is the food. You won’t find a standard “pantry car” here. Instead, the train boasts two world-class restaurants that are so beautiful they feel like movie sets: 1. Mayur Mahal: Inspired by the peacock, India’s national bird, featuring shimmering blues, greens, and gold. 2. Rang Mahal: Appropriately named the “Palace of Colours,” this space features bright, handpainted fresco ceilings. You aren’t just eating a meal; you are participating in a royal banquet. The chefs prepare a mix of Indian and international dishes. Learn about Medium’s values
A Moment of Relaxation: After a heavy dinner, most guests head to the Rajah Club lounge or the Safari Bar. It’s the perfect spot to sink into a leather armchair, sip on a fine beverage, and share stories with fellow travellers as the Indian countryside flashes by in the moonlight. Handcrafted Adventures Beyond the Tracks The Maharajas’ Express offers several routes, but they all focus on showing you the soul of the country. These are often considered the top luxury holiday packages in India because every single detail of your off-board excursion is handled for you. You don’t just see the sights; you experience them in a way most tourists never do. •
Agra: You don’t just visit the Taj Mahal; you watch the sun rise over the white marble.
•
Ranthambore: Forget crowded buses; you head into the thick forests in an open-top jeep to track wild tigers and leopards.

Jaipur: Instead of just walking through the Pink City, you might find yourself watching an elephant polo match or dining in a private corner of a royal palace.
•
Varanasi: Experience the ancient evening Aarti (prayer) on the banks of the Ganges from a private boat, away from the heavy crowds.
On a normal trip, you might worry about booking taxis, negotiating with vendors, or finding a guide who actually knows the history. On this train, the staff organises high-end conveyances and expert local guides at every single stop. You simply step off the train and into a perfectly planned adventure.
Why It’s the Best Way to Travel What truly makes this the best holiday trip in India is the incredible balance between sightseeing and relaxation. India is a beautiful, vibrant country, but it can sometimes be busy, loud, and a bit overwhelming for the unprepared. The Maharajas’ Express acts as your private sanctuary.
