NEW RULES CHANGES Important Information for All Members as a result of the 2014 International Moose Convention 1. All recommended General Law revisions were approved by the membership during the votes taken Monday, June 23rd. Key changes that impact most Moose members include: a. The option of reducing the number of Lodge Officers. Currently, the General Laws provide for three Trustees to be on the Board. The revision gives our lodges the choice between the current officer configuration and reducing the number of Trustees from three down to one. Dispensation from the General Governor’s Office is required prior to reducing the number of Trustees. b. Co-sponsorship between men and women. Members of the Loyal Order of Moose can now sponsor women into the Women of the Moose, and vice versa. Despite this change, the sponsorship rules still require an endorser from the lodge or chapter, as well as the review and approval of all candidates. Further, with the change in sponsorship policy, all individuals over the age of 21 are now considered candidates; therefore the guest policy of two visits before membership is required applies to all individuals, including lady friends of male members and gentlemen friends of female members. The only exceptions are spouses of current members, who still have no limits to the number of times they may visit. Both revisions will not go into effect until Friday, August 1st, however, as adjustments to Moose International processes need to be made to accommodate the change. c. Expired Members can now re-enroll after six months. Expired members who do not wish to retain their prior years of service in the Fraternity may now re-enroll into a Lodge after six months. They must complete an application, mark it as a re-enrollment and submit it with all applicable fees. Only a Lodge vote is needed to re-enroll back into their previous Lodge; while an application review and Lodge vote is needed to re-enroll into a different Lodge. This revision also will not go into effect until Friday, August 1st, however, as adjustments to Moose International processes need to be made to accommodate the change. d. The Lodge hall or home may now be rented by members for business purposes. This provides another avenue for the Lodge to raise funds needed for operations. A dispensation by the General Governor is still required on these occasions. e. New General Laws books are already in production Updates are already being made to the hard copy version of the General Laws, but printing and distribution will take a minimum of several weeks to complete. Each Lodge will automatically receive 12 copies of the updated book. Online updates will be available in 7 – 10 days in the General Governor’s section of the Moose website (www.mooseintl.org) 2. The Director General Announces a new Supreme Council Lodge Grant Program a. The Supreme Council has designated up to $1,000,000 per year for the next three years to fund a Lodge Grant Program designed to help Lodges repair, replace and upgrade equipment, facilities and systems at their Lodge homes. The Grants, which do not have to be repaid, will be distributed in amounts ranging from $500 - $25,000. This money cannot be utilized to pay taxes, past bills, loans or other commitments. The goal is to make our Lodges more attractive and functional for current and prospective members. b. Information and access to an electronic application will automatically be distributed to all Lodges during the week of July 27th via an Official Communication, and materials will be posted online in the Members Only section of the Moose International website during that same week. Applications may be submitted starting August 1st with a cut-off date of October 31st. Funds will begin to be distributed as early as January 5th. 3. A New Member Orientation Program will be made available in August a. The program, complete with a new 15 minute video, was previewed during several breakout sessions during the International Convention. Also to be included are video presentations of the Lodge and Moose Legion Rituals. b. The entire package, including outline, scripts, videos (DVD format), etc. will automatically be

History of R. Robert Dale Scholarship R. Robert Dale served as Secretary/Administrator of St. Charles, IL Lodge 1368. He was devoted to the Moose fraternity, its precepts and endeavors. He never married; never became a father. His sister married into a modest degree of wealth, but she never had children either. Following the death of her husband, she and Robert named each other in their wills. Robert survived her - but only by a few months. Robert Dale died on August 15, 1983, leaving an estate of more than $2 million, to be divided equally between the Veterans of Foreign Wars National Home and the Loyal Order of Moose, both for the purpose of providing scholarships. In 1985, Director General Paul O’Hollaren and the Supreme Council approved a program in which the interest from the Dale Scholarship Fund was to be used to provide scholarships for sons and daughters of Moose members who had graduated from high school, to further their higher education, and the R. Robert Dale Scholarship Program was created. Some 1,368 Dale Scholarships - totally $1,368,000 - have been awarded since the R. Robert Dale Scholarship Program began, with the graduating Class of 1987. Applicants for the program must be high-school juniors with a grade-point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale. They are eligible only if their father, mother, step-parent, grandparent or legal guardian is a member of the Moose in good standing. The number of scholarships awarded to each State and Provincial Moose Association, is computed based on the current membership of the Association and scholarship application submitted. This determines whether or not they hold an independent drawing during their Association convention. If the Association does not qualify for its own drawing, an at-large drawing is held at Moose International. Any individual Moose Lodge and its Chapter submitting 20 or more eligible applications qualifies for a bonus scholarship to be drawn from among just their applicants. The Scholarship may be used for tuition, books, and fees at any accredited vocational or academic institution the winner chooses to attend. Applications in the document section or in your Lodge.

Mooseheart State Champs Mooseheart Ramblers Go The Distance, Claim 1A Boys Basketball State Championship! Mooseheart Celebrates First Ever State Championship In Its 101st Year. Mooseheart’s 63-47 victory over Heyworth ended a journey for the 2013-14 Ramblers boys basketball team that started in November, not far from Peoria, at the Canton Thanksgiving tournament. The team ended the season with a 29-3 record. For three players on the squad, Mangisto Deng, Makur Puou and Akin Nyang, the contest ended their three year journey from South Sudan, through legal courtrooms and basketball courts and finally center court of the Peoria Civic Center. Four Mooseheart seniors saw their high school basketball careers come to an end. JJ Odunsi and Peter Kurowski will graduate in May, along with Deng and Puou. “It's a once in a lifetime feeling,” Mooseheart sophomore guard Freddie Okito said. “There's probably no other feeling like this.” The Ramblers hoisted the trophy, celebrated amongst themselves, then turned to their fans and exchanged handshakes and hugs with campus staff, Mooseheart graduates and their fellow students from the school's elementary school, middle school and high school. “I don't know how to explain it,” Deng said. “It's once in a life thing.” There may be no better way to show support for our championship Rambler Basketball team than ensuring they, and future generations of Mooseheart students, have a modern facility with the latest technology to support their academic efforts. All Lodges, Chapters and Moose Legions are encouraged to show their support for this century in the making achievement by sending an additional contribution to the “Mooseheart School Renovation Project”.

Santa Claus made his yearly visit for the Kids Party on Saturday the 21st of December. Santa and his helpers entertained and delighted 28 kids with gifts and candies.
