Camerata was a group of noblemen and musicians who met in Florence, Italy from 1573 – 1582 to discuss poetry, music, politics, and other subjects. In 1979, the Georgia-Cumberland Academy Choral adopted the name Camerata. GCA's Camerata is a 24-voice touring group whose mission is to share the love of Jesus with those they come in contact with through the powerful message of music. They maintain a significant travel schedule throughout the Georgia-Cumberland Conference and seek to provide high quality music programs and concerts representative of Adventist education. Acceptance into Camerata is gained by audition. Performance scholarships are available annually. Camerata periodically undertakes major tours outside of the GeorgiaCumberland Conference. Past tours have included Canada, Colorado, Kansas, Europe, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, South Carolina, Washington D.C., Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Texas. About the Director Candace A.
