Verizon Email: Managing Spam Spam is any unwanted, or unsolicited email that’s sent to a lot of addresses. Most of it is harmless junk mail, but sometimes it contains malware or phishing scams. Spam is pretty much unavoidable, but there are a few good ways to manage and prevent it.

Your Verizon email address comes with Spam Detector, an application that identifies and filters unwanted spam from your Inbox. You can set up Spam Detector to automatically delete suspected spam, or save spam messages in a separate folder for review. To learn more, visit this link .

Report spam messages, so we can filter them better. If a spam email gets through, select the message and click the Spam
button. When viewing your Verizon email through another email client, such as Microsoft Outlook, forward spam to

addresses from websites. Also be careful which websites you provide your email address to. Some will collect and sell them.

Tip 4
Create an alternate email address you can give to websites and online stores. This way, you can keep your primary email address for important things and direct spam elsewhere. You can create additional Verizon email addresses for free by making a new sub-account in your Settings menu.
Sometimes spam has an unsubscribe link...but it may be a trap. These links tell the spammer that you viewed the message and your email address is valid, so it can be sold for a higher premium. Unless it’s from a familiar source or reputable company, mark it as spam instead.

Email images can be tracked by spammers too. For added security, disable the display of remote images in your webmail Settings menu. To show the images in a single trusted email, click the Display Images link.

Sometimes, an email you want to receive will accidentally be flagged as spam. To make sure these messages are delivered in the future, place a check-mark next to the message in the Spam folder, then click the Not Spam button.

You can also add the sender to your Safe Senders List and all their messages will be delivered. Click Settings, Email Settings, Blocking and finally Safe Senders. Type the email address of the sender you would like to exempt from filtering or select it from your Contacts.
