WELCOME! Welcome to the Unaka District 2018 Winter Freezoree hosted by Troop 616! The 2018 Winter Freezoree will be held at Jeremy Davis farm in Meigs County. The theme for this year’s event is “Scout Skills”. The challenges will be based on scout skills. These skills will be competitions that focus more on skills and less on physical abilities. All rules of scouting will be followed. NO ALCOHOL, ILLEGAL DRUGS, FIREARMS, OR EXPLOSIVES ARE ALLOWED. THE SCOUT LAW IS OUR GUIDE. Camping fees will be $7 for scouts and $5 for adults payable at the cracker barrel Friday night. Directions The Jeremy Davis Farm 3471 S. No Pone Valley Road Decatur, TN 37322 Driving south on US Hwy 11 to Calhoun turn right on to Hwy 163 west for 9.2 miles. Turn right on to No Pone Valley Road for 3.2 miles. Turn left at a sign that says Jeremy David Ferrier Services.
Rules The property we will be camping on is a hay field that is leased out for the hay. There will be no digging of fire pits allowed. No cars will be allowed on to the field. A parking place will be provided outside of field. Tranport of troop trailers will be allowed on the field but vehicle must stay in campsite until the end of the camporee.. All buildings are off limits. All farm equiptment is off limits. Water is available.
Camporee Events 1. First Aid – This event will consist of a secret injury. The injury will be the same for all the patrols. The patrol must present a first aid kit for inspection to the judge prior to the treatment. The injury must be treated correctly then a stretcher must be made to transport the victim. This event will be judged on accuracy and teamwork. All materials will be provided for this event. – Fall Camporee 2009 2. Troop Gateway – Bring enough rough spars to construct a gateway of your design at your campsite no less than 8 feet high and no more than 15 feet high. –Winter Freezoree 1992 3. Busted Oven – Each patrol may enter one item. A soup or stew homemade is to be submitted at the headquarters for judging by 5:00 PM. Please submit entry in a non returnable bowl. Judging will be on taste. 4. Color Guard Drill – Each patrol or troop will conduct a flag ceremony (raising colors, retrieving, and folding flag) judged by 2 or more leaders on uniform dress, quality of ceremony, general presence. – Winter Freezoree 2007 5. Pioneering – Troop will construct in campsite a pioneering project. Project will be judged on knots tied and complexity of project. All projects must be constructed at the camporee.
