She was a housewife and past member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth L. Antonia `Toni' Mesich Antonia "Toni" Mesich, 104, formerly of Milwaukee and Rock Island, died Monday, Oct. 13, 1997, at Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley. Memorials may be made to St. Pius X Church, Rock Island, where she attended. The former Antonia Holjevac was born Feb. 14, 1893, in Croatia. She married Louis Mesich Nov. 23, 1919, in Croatia. He died Nov. 16, 1984. The family came to the United States and to Milwaukee in 1930. She was a member of Lodge 261, Croatian Fraternal Union of America. Mrs. Van Hoorebeke died Monday, Oct. 13, 1997, at Illini Hospital, Silvis. She was born July 18, 1903, in Rock Island, the daughter of Steve and Magdalene Valentine Dunning. She married Emil J. Van Hoorebeke Sept. 30, 1924, in Rock Island. He died in 1970. She was a member of the St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society. In her early years, she and her husband were very active in the Belgian/American Club, Rock Island. She enjoyed bingo and playing cards. Survivors include several nieces and nephews, including Mary Lou Berry, East Moline, and Ruth Chastain, Prophetstown; and special friends, Rollie and Illeen Schneckloth and Leslie Swanson. She is preceded in death by a son, Emil C. Van Hoorebeke, who died in September 1962. Ada G. Wisniewski Ada G. Wisniewski, 95, of Rock Island, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 1997, in Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island. Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Broadway Presbyterian Church, Rock Island. The former Ada Geske was born Oct. 25, 1901, in Oxford, Wis., the daughter of John and Lettie Drew Geske. She married Charles Uskavitch on June 20, 1923, in LeRoy. She married Valentine Wisniewski on Jan. 19, 1957, in LeRoy. He died Jan. 10, 1977. She was a nurses' aide at Genesee Memorial Hospital, Batavia, N.Y., for 24 years, retiring in 1976. She previously worked at the Jell-O Division of General Foods in LeRoy, N.Y., and at Dinion Electric Company, Caledonia, N.Y. She was a member of Broadway Presbyterian Church, Rock Island, and the Women's Association of the church; Putnam Museum Guild, Davenport; Woman's Club of Rock Island; and the Garden Club, Rock Island. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, C. Stanley and Chris Uskavitch of East Moline, and Robert and Barbara Uskavitch of Reston, Va.; five grandchildren, Charles S. He married Pearl Smith March 16, 1944, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Clarence was a lifetime farmer in the Atkinson area, just recently retiring from the farm to town. He was an Army veteran of WW II, serving in the ordnance division. He also was a member of the church, Henry County Farm Bureau and Atkinson American Legion Charles DeCrane Post. He enjoyed his friends at the Salebarn, Iron Kettle and The Deck restaurants. He farmed south of Joy for many years and retired from Alcoa as a chemical technician in 1980. He was a lifetime member of the Joy United Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening and was an avid sports fan. Sean Duane Hendricks was born May 7, 1974, in Davenport, the son of W. Scott and Joan M. Serrano Hendricks. He was a 1992 graduate of Davenport West High School and had attended the University of Iowa, Iowa City. Sean was currently the parts manager of the Honda Motors Division at Lujack's Auto Plaza. Sean attended Holy Family Church in Davenport. He enjoyed spending time with his friends, and golf as a hobby. He possessed a special quality with young people; he could bring a bright smile to all his siblings, and nieces and nephews no matter what the occasion. Sean is survived by his loving family, including his mother and father, Joan and Timothy Gasser, Bettendorf; a brother, Christopher Hendricks, a resident of Bettendorf and a student at the University of Iowa; brothers, Michael and Matthew Gasser, and a sister, Nicole Gasser, all of Bettendorf; his grandmother, Marlene Serrano, Omaha, Neb.; grandparents, William and Arlys Hendricks, Davenport; and a special friend, Cari Carter; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
