The Mixed Methods Research Training Program for the Health Sciences is a joint initiative by Johns Hopkins University and Harvard University. It provides comprehensive training in mixed methods through a fully-funded educational and mentoring program in the health sciences. The program is sponsored by the Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research at the NIH, and led by Joseph Gallo, MD, MPH, BSPH, professor at Johns Hopkins University; John Creswell, PhD, University of Michigan; and Charles Deutsch, ScD, director of the Population Health Research Program at Harvard Catalyst. Program scholars will benefit from working closely with a team of nationally recognized mixed methods mentors and consultants, and have the opportunity to enhance their skills in study design, measurement, and data collection and analysis procedures, among other areas. This program will also provide scholars with the opportunity to develop research proposals through didactic instruction, individualized feedback and consultation, use of online training materials, and immediate and long-term assessments. Upon completing this program, scholars will be prepared to submit a mixed methods proposal for funding, be better prepared to utilize mixed methods in their future research endeavors, and to serve as resources within their institution and field. This program is conducted remotely except for the summer retreat.
