I'm trying to get at the flame sensor in Armstrong Ultra SX 90 to clean it but it is deep in a sealed chamber. I took off the front of the chamber but I see no easy way to remove the sensor for cleaning.
Ask airheatman your HVAC question here...
the house won't reach the temperature that the thermostat is set at. Saw several posts on the SX 80 to remove the sensor and clean it fixes the problem. A couple with the SX 90 just got the sandpaper into the sensor nook enough to clean it to get the furnace running again. I'm thinking there has to be a way to snap that sensor out for replacement or cleaning airheatman is online now

Hello. My name is ***** ***** I'll do my best to help. Let's get started and see what we can do.Remove panel in front of burners and look for a label on inside(usually right hand side) and give me the model on the furnace. The SX90 is just a series. This will help me identify what we are working with. Ask Your Own HVAC Question

Poor design on part of the manufacturer, but that whole burner assembly has to be removed for cleaning or replacing. You might as well go ahead and clean burners while you have it apart. Ask Your Own HVAC Question
I can't pay you for that.... That means I have to call in a furnace repairman and saved no money whatsoever for you answer. sorry...
HVAC Technician: airheatman Unfortunately the batteries are dead in my magic wand this morning and I am unable to wave it and make the job any easier,AS stated, the only way to access the sensor is dismantle the burner assembly. Leaving a poor service rating will not automatically refund your money, but reflects poorly on me. You have to request a refund if not satisfied with the information provided being accurate.
