doaskdotell MOVIE REVIEWS Release coding information explained here You can find the details or specs for a lot of films and actors, directors, screenwriters at the Internet Movie Database: http://www.imdb.com/ That site also offers a professional subscription for a small fee, for additional detailed information about each movie. There is also a lot of cross-referencing at Netflix and Blockbuster. Visit my blog at http://billboushka.blogspot.com/ Movie reviews blog is at http://billsmoviereviews.blogspot.com/ Movies are grouped onto pages according to common content. Much of the content on this site was at one time on a site called "hppub.com" (until 8/2005). The movie and book reviews often used that name descriptively. I have been replacing these names with "doaskdotell" but I do not have an automated tool on this site to reliably replace them all at once; I have changed the links; all links that pointed to the old domain should point to this one. There is a subdirectory on this domain by the old name explaining the usage. Visitors who find any incorrect or obsolete links may contact me. Mafia Movies Link This review list contains many infrequently shown or little known films. However every film on this list has been shown to the open general public (in a theater or on a cable or broadcast channel, or at least on a DVD or video) at least once. Note also: This site does not sell, distribute, or publish films. Some of the films reviewed here are small and may be hard to find, or not be available now. Sometimes different films from different sources have the same or similar names by accident. I’ll do the best I can to answer questions on a case-by-case basis. You can always check e-commerce sites like Netflix, Amazon, Ebay, BN, etc., too.

I have a movie “wishlist” with a link for information about a new screenplay about the military gay ban, “Half Life” (not by me) at http://www.doaskdotell.com/movwish.htm The is a documentary film in development, “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” from “Dream Out Loud” films; to view the trailer, go the link here. The film should become available in 2005. For intellectual objectivity, I mention that I Do Exist, a 48-minute film documenting ex-gay conversions, began showing in some private schools and churches Oct. 9, 2004. I have not seen it yet but will try to and provide a review. It is produced by Walter Throckmorton. Apparently the film presents a Columbia psychotherapist, Robert Spitzer, who had participated in the 1973 decision to remove homosexuality from the list of psychiatric “illnesses” but who now claims that homosexuals can “change”. If so, then the question is, why does it even matter? There is some discussion of the United States Supreme Court’s 24-minute video documentary at this link. Reuters has reported (1/31/2006) that a ten year old boy in India has made a film called "Care of Footpath" (or "C/O Footpath") about street people in India. If it becomes available I will see it and review. Another note: I do not assign ratings (or "stars") to films. I discuss their significance, especially socially, politically and artistically. I recall a PTA Magazine in the 1950s that rated movies by age categories as "Excellent" "Good" "Matter of Taste" and "No". There were a lot of "No"'s. I will try to see "Valley of the Wolves: Iraq" ("Kurtlar vadisi - Irak") (2006) from Pana Film but Turkey is trying to block release of the film, which shows American arrest of Turkish soldiers (AFP story Feb 21 2006). Detailed discussion of my own movie proposals. Progress report on my own movie proposals. (and my 2004 script Baltimore Is Missing) I want to mention here that the 2003 Human Rights Campaign dinner made a National Equality Award to the NBC series The West Wing, for its many straightforward and accurate presentations of GLBT issues, such as the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy in the military, sodomy laws and same-sex marriage. The award was accepted by Allison Janney, John Spencer, and Stockard Channing.
