I am Research Professor of the Computer Science Department at the Mexican Center for Scientific Research and Advanced Studies of the National Polytechnic Institute. (Centro de Investigación y de Estudios Avanzados del Instituto Politécnico Nacional, CINVESTAV−IPN) since 16 October 1985. I received my Ph.D degree in Computer Science from the University of Paris VI, (France) on March 7, 1985. For my thesis entitled "Automatic Archiving of Knowledge from Textual Documents" (in French), I designed and implemented an expert system to infer knowledge from a large database of organic chemicals using a natural language parser. Following my PhD research activities, I focused my research on artificial intelligence, natural language processing, machine learning and design and implementation of knowledge based systems. Currently, my research interest covers complementary domains: Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW), Distributed Artificial Intelligence (DAI), as well as Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
Research
interests:
Performance, availability, security, usability and manageability are some of the key attributes that I pay attention to in my research work. My publications are related with: Machine learning, Data Mining, and Knowledge Discovery, Knowledge−based Systems, Natural language processing, Groupware, cooperative authoring on the World Wide Web, Deductive and adaptive cooperation interface, and enhancing of group awareness.

Principal Research projects: 1.
Study of the some polynomial classes project. There have been several projects in collaboration between CINVESTAV and IIIA−CSIC (Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, Barcelona, Spain). We mention as an example:
17
Satisfiability problem (SAT). It is well−known that the SAT problem with classical propositional logic is NP−Complete. Then, we have researched in cooperation the existence of some polynomial classes of practical interest. Thus, we have proposed some Horn−like non−clausal SAT classes that can be solved in linear time. We have also extended this result to a multivalued propositional logic, the signed logic, for which several SAT algorithms with almost linear complexity have been designed. Participants : ·

"Distributed environment platform for cooperative nomadic writhing on the Web". In this project we specially focused on the following issues: the consistency and availability of the shared resources, the group awareness resources and functions, observational and updating of the private and shared environments, honesty of the collaborative common space, private space security, resource protection and non intrusiveness of the provided solutions. Responsible: Ana Martinez Enriquez Participants : Master and PhD students of the Computer Science Department at CINVESTAV−IPN, Mexico. Financial support : CONACyT (2001−2003)
