Congratulations on being accepted to participate in the Drive, Chip & Putt Championship competition. You will be playing in the local qualifier on June 8, 2017 at BridgeMill Athletic Club in Canton, Ga. Visit the club’s website at www.bridgemillathleticclub.com for directions and additional information about the facility. We will be identifying three qualifiers in each of the Girls and Boys divisions from the four age brackets 7-9; 10-11; 12-13 and 14-15. As a reminder, ages are determined based on the player’s age on Championship Sunday - April 1, 2018. Each player will compete in Driving, Chipping and Putting. At each skill, the player will play three shots with point values awarded based on the result of each shot. All of the scoring rules will be handed out on site and are also available to view online at www.drivechipandputt.com under the Rules tab. Please be aware that during the driving portion of the event, all participants will be using the same type of golf ball that will be provided. Use of a putter is not allowed for competition in the Chip Skill. Competitors may use only a lofted iron or wood for the skill. A "chipper" club is considered an approved club for the Chip Skill. Please allow for delays in transit to the qualifying site. Once the competition has begun, late competitors will not be able to compete. Players will be expected to be at the appropriate skill, ready to play, when introduced by the starter. We expect little free time between skills, so players should move directly to the next skill as they complete their turn. Pace of Play - Players will play without delay and must play when prompted by the starter. Delay between strokes may result in points deducted. Advice/Coaching - Once a player begins the competition they shall complete the entire process without coaching or other assistance.
Safety of all players and spectators is important. Parents are expected to supervise their children, both those competing and not competing. Parents must be present whenever their child is going to swing a club other than in a competition to ensure the safety of the player and those around the player. Players should never swing a club when others are near. Parents must supervise your child’s practice swings to ensure the safety of everyone. Following the completion of play in each division there will be an awards ceremony at the official score board. Ribbons will be presented 1-2-3 in each skill as well as 1-2-3 overall in the division. Once the awards ceremony is complete, there are no further activities for players in that division, you are free to depart. The top three players in each division will advance to the Sub-Regional Qualifier on July 30, 2017 at The Landings Club in Savannah, Ga. Tee times will be emailed and posted by July 21st at www.georgiapga.com. You will need to provide proof of age for the Sub-Regional Qualifier. There are no alternate positions for the Sub-Regional Qualifier. If you have any questions, please contact the Georgia PGA Section office at 678-461-8600.
