Welcome!
Woodward Academy College Park, GA My.Scouting.org Southern Crescent District Atlanta Area 092 Council Boy Scouts of America
Welcome to the Troop 631 website! For an overview of Scouting, watch this video. Or this one (with video from the May, 2010 Campout of the Century). For contact information, please see About Us and How to Join on the menu bar on the left side of the page. Interested in Joining? You can contact the Scoutmaster or Troop Committee Chair. In Boy Scouting, recognition is gained through leadership in the troop, attending and participating in its activities, living the ideals of Scouting, and proficiency in activities related to outdoor life, useful skills, and career exploration. The methods of Boy Scouting are Ideals, Patrols, Outdoor Programs, Advancement, Association with Adults, Personal Growth, Leadership Development and the Uniform, and each is important.

Skymont Signup and Survey and Payments Due. Posted on Mar 7 2018 - 7:17pm
Troop
This is an email to Scouts and families that have indicated a plan to attend (or likely attend) summer camp at Skymont. Information about the week is at https://atlanta631.mytroop.us/node/9418. A survey about it is at www.surveymonkey.com/r/Skymont2018. Please complete that. Here’s why: You might have some ideas about fun things you’d like to do at Camp. 600 other Scouts may also have those fun ideas. There is limited space for many of the fun things that you might want to do. We want you do to what you want to do. This also has some adult choices on it as well. We need adults to attend. And for adults new to the Troop, this is an excellent chance to get some training. So that we get you the best chance of doing “what you want to do”, I will go online to enter “what you want to do” this Friday morning for those who, by 5:00 PM this Thursday, March 8, both (1) complete the Survey, and (2) have delivered to me evidence of payment to the Troop. Big thanks to those who have responded: Cohen, Ellis S., Jeffrey W., Douglas F., Samuel J. (if ATV is full ... it probably is ... what about Rafter or Ruby, and do you have any other program requests?), Adam Y. (what about Rafter or Ruby, and do you have any program requests?), Caleb T. (what about Rafter or Ruby, and do you have any program requests?), Colin E. (if ATV is full ... it probably is ... do you have any program requests?), as well as Austin H., Mr. Taylor, Mrs. Elam and Mr. Flannigan. If you're not on the list we haven't heard from you, and we need to hear from you to get you in the programs you want the most.

Joaquin T. Eagle Project Posted on Feb 21 2018 - 7:16pm
Troop
From Joaquin T.: "There are over 3500 homeless people in Atlanta. You can help to alleviate their suffering. The final stage of my Eagle Project will be at Loose Nuts Bike Shop, which is located at 452 Cherokee Ave SE, Atlanta, GA. Scouts should arrive before 11:30 on February 25, as the ride begins at noon. Before 12:00, Scouts will be helping unload cars. Scouts should bring their own bikes, bags, full water bottles, and helmets, as they will not be provided. The reason for the ride is to distribute blessing bags to the homeless of Atlanta. If scouts would like more information, they can email me at
[email protected] or text me at 4047257522. Even if scouts cannot make the ride, I still need donations. Scouts should bring food items such as tuna pouches, spam, and Vienna sausages, and potted meat to Our Lady of Mercy Catholic School or Most Blessed Sacrament Church or reach out to me and I will arrange to pick it up. Donations will not be accepted after next Wednesday. Sincerely, Joaquin."
New Scouts ... Old Scouts Posted on Feb 14 2018 - 5:20pm
Troop
As attendees at Monday's Court of Honor (or Saturday's Pinewood Derby and Crossover) know, Troop 631 has 12 new Scouts -- see them here. And (as the poet wrote) from small things big things one day come ... see the 2011 Blue and Gold gallery for photos like this of Sam E., Sam M. and Brad S., three of our graduating Seniors, on the day they "crossed over" into the Troop. 1
