Better Health in 2018
As we get closer to the New Year, we start to think about ways to reinvent ourselves. According to NBC News, the number one New Year’s resolution is, you guessed it, getting healthy. That means eating right, exercising, and getting enough sleep; you’ve heard it a million times, but these behaviors form the trifecta for a healthier, happier you! One of the common problems with New Year’s resolutions is that you keep them in mind for a month or two and then revert back to your old ways. This happens a lot when it comes to diet
and exercise. The key thing to remember is that while you are sacrificing certain pleasures in your life, you are improving your overall mood, energy, and well-being in the end! family members prefer the home dining table to eat in the living room or in front of the computer, then there will be no good relations.
Eating Right
You have survived the holidays. All of the heavy holiday food and sweets are out of your way, but unfortunately, unhealthy foods continue to tempt you every day. If you have the willpower
and drive to stick to healthy choices, you would be surprised at the improvement in how you feel every day. Healthy eating isn’t just for those looking to lose weight; it’s for everyone! Eating right can help prevent future diseases, improve your mood, improve your productivity, and give you more energy to tackle everything you want to in 2018! Food that is full of sugar and trans fats can throw off the chemicals in your brain, resulting in symptoms of depression. Healthy foods containing nutrients like creatine and omega 3s tend to have the opposite effect by boosting your mood, providing you with more energy, and combatting depression. If depression is something you struggle with, improving your diet could be a game-changer. Fried and processed foods also have the ability to slow your cognitive abilities, while healthy fats like those you get from avocados lead to healthy brain function. If you’d like to increase your productivity for 2018, cutting out a lot of the trans fat in your diet could help significantly!
It’s also important to note that healthy eating can help prevent disease, including cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and osteoporosis. Your body will become stronger and more resilient from the healthy nutrients you consume, and as a result, you will be less susceptible to developing these diseases.
Exercising
Exercise might be something you dread even more than eating right, but it is just as important. Exercise helps you to control your weight, combat health conditions and diseases, improve your mood, and boost your energy.
Just like eating healthy, being active helps combat depression and anxiety. It releases endorphins which increase feelings of positivity and reduce the perception of pain. The best part? You don’t have to go through an intense workout routine; if you would rather have a more relaxed workout, you will still release endorphins and receive these benefits. If you’re suffering from fatigue, working out can actually help boost your energy levels as well! It has been proven to be the top method for fighting fatigue and making you feel more energized, and it usually helps you to get better sleep. Failing to exercise is the primary cause of chronic disease. Exercising is important because it decreases blood pressure and blood fat levels, which helps prevent heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. Making sure you exercise regularly helps to protect your health now and in the future. Keep yourself moving and you’ll find it gets easier and easier! The benefits are well worth it.
Sleeping Right
Getting your 8 hours a night can help improve your health this year as well. So much of your mental and physical health depends on sleep! Just like with eating right and exercising, sleep helps with anxiety and depression, increasing energy, and keeping your body functioning correctly. If you want to avoid feeling sluggish every morning and fatigued throughout your day, it’s time to think about how you can get better sleep. Eating right and exercising plays a large role in getting better sleep. These behaviors are also affected by healthy sleep, as getting enough sleep provides you with more energy to exercise
and the drive to eat healthy. Combining all three will provide you with the most benefits to your health. If you have tried everything, including eating right and exercising, sleeping in different positions, aromatherapy, and playing soft music, to no avail, the problem might be your mattress. Everyone needs a different mattress to suit their bodies needs and comfort. The level of support you need in your mattress to avoid aches and pains, how much contouring you find comfortable, and if you run hot or cold are all factors that you should consider when buying a mattress. You can’t put a price on healthy sleep, so make sure you don’t stick with an old mattress because of the cost of a new one. Your health and productivity in 2018 could suffer as a result! Let 2018 be the year you take control of your health, and keep your New Year’s resolutions!
