This courthouse in Springfield, Colorado was built in 1929, with additional WPA construction in 1935, and still uses a well drilled in the 1800s. Restoration was funded by the Colorado State Historical Fund and Baca County.
Problem:
Failure of the original roof system caused damage to the building’s interior, and multiple generations of patching undermined significant architectural details on the original stone parapet. Further moisture damage would likely threaten the structural stability of the courthouse.
Solution:
Crocker Ltd was retained to design and install a new roofing system and infiltration galleries that manage runoff while protecting historic architectural elements.
