SERVICES DIRECTORY 2016
About MPC MPC was established over 40 years ago and has subsequently been a training provider in the field of management system and advisory services to public and private sectors. Ever since, the focus of MPC has expanded as a provider of research services and systems development services in the early 1990s. In 1995, MPC started to focus on the productivity and the uplifting of industrial efficiency and later in 2000, benchmarking and sharing best practices. Currently, the main focus of MPC is to become the driver of productivity growth and high impact innovations. The shift and development towards this focus is aligned with the industrial needs which have changed in line with the economy, social, and information technology development. In the 10th Malaysia Plan, the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) is mandated to review those regulations affecting the conduct of business in Malaysia with the view to modernize business regulations.
2
This is crucial in order for the country to move towards its aspiration of becoming a high income nation. Towards this, MPC has embarked on review of existing business regulations with the focus on the 12 National Key Economic Areas (NKEA) which have been identified as having high growth potential.
Productivity continues to be the integral component in Malaysia’s quest to become a high income economy by 2020 - our national agenda. MPC has been revamped since October 2010 towards achieving a quantum leap in productivity and efficiency through high impact productivity and innovation drivers as further growth must come from higher TFP.

QUALITY ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (QEMS): 5S IMPLEMENTATION Quality Environment (QE) practice is a concept which can be applied in the workplace by workers. It creates a more conducive, clean and tidy workplace. If all workers treat Quality Environment (QE) practice as a daily activity, work definitely become faster and easier. A major attraction of 5S is that it does not require capital investment. The heart of the concept is the belief that positive change occurs through investing in people “with every pair of hands comes a free brain”. Therefore, implementation, though not cost-free, can be a minimal cost investment. This makes Quality Environment (QE) practice accessible and achievable for all types of organisations. Through the implementation and practices of Quality Environment (QE) practice everyone is able to contribute towards increasing company’s productivity and quality. A successful Quality Environment (QE) practice, programme will contribute to a change in culture, processes and work practice. At the end of the programme, participants should be able to: Understand the importance of Quality Environment (QE) practice concept Develop teamwork spirit among workers in order to achieve company’s goals Understand the ideas to implement Quality Environment (QE) practice at workplace

TRIZ LEVEL 1 FOR PRACTITIONERS TRIZ is the Russian acronym for the “Theory of Inventive Problem Solving”. It is a systematic problem solving method based on logic and data, not intuition or spontaneous creativity of individuals or groups. Developed by Genrich Altshuller and his colleagues from 1946 through to 1985 in the former Union of Soviet Socialist Republic (USSR). It is based on the study of patterns of problems and solutions. TRIZ provides repeatability, predictability, and reliability due to its structure and algorithmic approach. It improves an individual’s or team’s ability to solve problems.

LEAN MANAGEMENT : TOTAL PRODUCTIVE MAINTENANCE (TPM) Machinery is a common element in any manufacturing set-up and it is perhaps the very heartbeat of the operation. Hence, machine breakdown is unacceptable. Proactive machine maintenance activity such as Preventive Maintenance can help prevent unplanned machine breakdown. Preventive Maintenance is one of the four maintenance activities in the implementation of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) which also comprise of Productive Maintenance, Corrective Maintenance and Maintenance Prevention. TPM is not at all like maintenance activities that repairs machine breakdowns, however it is a proactive approach that essentially aims to prevent unexpected stoppages in the process due to machine unavailability known as downtime.
At the end of this two days course, the participants should be able to: • Describe the importance and benefits of TPM to productivity, quality and business performance. • Identify the TPM principles and the prudent TPM implementation strategy

At the end of the programme, participants should be able to: • Understand the concept of Material Cost Saving (MCS) in Green Productivity (GP) • Acquire knowledge on how to apply the MCS approach in their workplace • Learn more on methods to reduce both environmental impact and costs based on the MCS Concept
CONTENTS
Material Cost Saving (MCS), developed in Germany in the late 1990s and adopted widely in Japan, focuses on tracing waste, emission and non-value added products. It helps to boost an organisation’s economic and environmental performance. It is one of the major tools of Environmental Management Accounting (EMA). EMA is a set of procedures used within business organisations for linking environmental considerations with economics objectives. Today, organisations cannot ignore the environmental aspects of their activities. Consequently, they seek management tools to link concern for the environment with economic considerations. MCS is a management tool that promotes efficient use of materials more effectively and contributing to reduction in waste, emission, and non-value added products. MCS increases the transparency of material flow, which is the key to successful problem-solving and improvement. By solving problems, organisations can improve their productivity and reduce cost at the same time. This is in line with the Green Productivity (GP) concept which is being implemented in organisations and factories.

KURSUS PENINGKATAN PRODUKTIVITI ORGANISASI MELALUI PRODUCTIVITYLINKED WAGES SYSTEM (PLWS) Firms need to ensure that they continuously improve productivity to enhance their competitive edge. The gains from higher productivity will enable firms to rationalise cost and sustain labour cost competitiveness which is crucial in an ever changing economic environment. To ensure that firms remain cost competitive, the issue of linking wages to productivity should be given emphasis. Any increase in wages should be supported by growth in productivity to avoid high cost of production or service provided. MPC has developed an interactive approach to PLWS through the i_PLWS programme. This hands-on system will enable firms to simulate their own PLWS Models for implementation at all levels of the firm.
At the end of the programme, participants should be able to: • Assist firms in the implementation process of PLWS • Analyse case examples which can be adapted and adopted at the firm level • Enable companies simulate their own PLWS models through the i-PLWS programme

INTERNATIONAL TEAM EXCELLENCE AWARD (ITEA) Firms need to ensure that they continuously improve productivity to enhance their competitive edge.
